Edilco was granted the privilege of building the grand staircase that connects the mezzanine to the first floor of the building, providing access to the highly frequented refreshment area.

Each customer of the Major Works line is therefore offered services dedicated to them. Edilco keeps open the possibility for architects and professionals to take part in the construction process of our staircases.

The major challenge of this project, in addition to the careful attention to the staircase design, was the engineering design that complied with strict US building regulations.

Metropolitan Museum of Art – New York

The Met wanted to expand its exhibition space. On the south side, a pavilion in the form of a greenhouse was built, perfectly set into the original structure. The new area therefore incorporates the original 19th-century façade, serving as an alternative access to the main entrance.

The Major Works line does not follow predefined patterns; instead, it aims to develop each project according to a case-by-case assessment.

In fact, there are already many collaborations from which new models and innovative solutions have emerged.

Metropolitan Museum of Art – New York

The project was completed in 2009 and inaugurated in June of the same year.

The load-bearing beams in special steel of the highest quality make the structure strong yet at the same time light.  Finally combined with a satin finish, the result is soft to the touch.
The steps, as well as the parapets and balustrades, are made of laminated tempered glass.
