WAVE’S END HOUSE: Edilco Scale’s Made in Italy Craftsmanship in Long Island, New York

Among the rolling green hills of Long Island, elegant geometries in glass, concrete and stone emerge from the landscape. This is Wave’s End House, a bold contemporary residence immersed in a natural setting that has remained unchanged over time.

Driven by a deep appreciation for high-end design and a recognition of the outstanding quality of Italian craftsmanship, a renowned businessman once again chose to entrust his latest personal project to an Italian designer. It is no coincidence that the commission awarded to interior designer Biancamaria Santangelo evolved into a true journey across Italy, in search of Italian artisans and materials to bring back to Long Island.

The undulating contours of Long Island’s lush vegetation provide a soft backdrop to this refined three-storey residence. The two above-ground floors and the basement are connected by a helical staircase, an engineering masterpiece designed and built in Italy by Edilco Scale. Perhaps the most iconic feature of the home’s fluid architecture, the staircase reflects the seamless dialogue between the functionality of the interiors and the surrounding natural environment, framed by expansive glass windows.
